Area 51 finally gets a trailer and release date after years in development. Area 51 is the follow-up feature for Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli. The film is shot as a found footage movie similar to Paranormal Activity. The synopsis for the movie is as follows:
“The film follows three young conspiracy theorists who attempt to uncover the mysteries of Area 51, the government’s top secret location rumored to have hosted encounters with alien beings. What they find at this hidden facility exposes horrifying, unimaginable secrets. Now you can experience their harrowing adventure in this footage pieced together from documentation of these chilling events.”
I liked Paranormal Activity. I thought that the movie was a different twist on the horror movie and found footage genres (since found footage has become so common place these days) so I was interested in what Peli did with this movie when I first heard about in a few years ago. The fact that it won’t be getting theater distribution gives me less hope for this to be a good movie. You can check out the trailer below. Area 51 is directed by Oren Peli, written by Oren Peli and Christopher Denham and produced by Jason Blum and Steven Schneider. This horror movie will come out on May 15th on VOD and all digital platforms.
