The news broke yesterday that the search for the next Han Solo for Disney/Lucasfilm’s standalone movie is down to possibly five candidates. The announcement was first made up The Hollywood Reporter who provided the following three names. Read below for the final shortlist.
“According to sources, last weekend in London tests were conducted involving actors Alden Ehrenreich, who did scene-stealing work in Hail, Caesar!; Jack Reynor, best known for his work in Transformers: Age of Extinction; and Taron Egerton, the star of The Kingsman and Eddie the Eagle.”
Immediately following the announcement, Variety‘s Justin Kroll added the following names in the following tweet.
The names listed differ a bit from the original shortlist of names that leaked back in January. At the time it was believed that Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), Scott Eastwood (The Longest Ride), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), Dave Franco (21 Jump Street), Blake Jenner (Everybody Wants Some), Logan Lerman (Fury), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Miles Teller (Whiplash) were the finalists for the coveted role. Either way, we are that much closer to landing a new actor in the iconic role that saw more than 2,500 actors reportedly audition. Who is your choice to play Han Solo in the standalone film and possibly beyond (there’s rumors he will cameo in Rogue One)? The movie has a release date set for May 2018.
