According to Variety, Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs, Eternal Sunshine) will star in Woody Allen’s (Cafe Society, Annie hall) next film. Continue reading for more details.
Here’s the official report from Variety:
“Sources tell Variety that Kate Winslet is in final negotiations to star in Allen’s next movie, which will shoot this fall.
Allen is writing, directing and producing the untitled pic, and like all his recent films, plot details are being heavily guarded.
As usual, Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson will produce. The film hasn’t found a distributor yet, although Amazon seems to be a likely destination, given Allen’s recent relationship with the studio.”
I was surprised to read that Winslet has not worked with Allen previously in her career. Winslet has been one of the best actresses in the world for around two decades having been nominated for seven Oscars (winning one for The Reader). Seven actors have won Oscars for appearing in Woody Allen films, the third most for any director. It seems like a perfect match for Winslet to spout Allen’s dialogue and dive head first into one of his quirky roles.
What do you think about Kate Winslet being cast in the next Woody Allen movie? I will keep you updated on any new information about this project as soon as i hear anything.
