So the question of “will he, won’t he” be in the sequel has officially been answered.  The road to get here has been confusing, however.  Originally there was talk that Firth might be back as either a twin, “faked his death”, or flashback scenario in the sequel but those rumors were then shot down by the production team.  Then shortly after that there was a teaser poster claiming that “Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated” indicating that the character likely isn’t dead in the next movie.  Confusing right?  Now there’s a picture of him on set so it’s safe to say that he’ll make an appearance of some sort (unless he’s just there to visit the cast and crew and they’re really just messing with us by posting the picture and teaser poster).
The follow up question is how will be be back?  For those who haven’t seen the first movie (why not?  Check it out, the movie is good) there’s spoilers ahead so proceed with caution.  The reason why it’s strange that he might be back it that he was shot in the head at point blank range.  Unless they come up with some bizarre cop out like bullet proof glasses, a fake mechanical eye or the bullet going through his brain without killing him, it just doesn’t make sense.  I really liked Firth’s Harry Hart in the movie, he was easily the best part of the film, but when you bring someone back from a very obvious death it cheapens things a bit and removes dramatic weight from the following films.  That said, the movie is directed by Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class, Layer Cake, Stardust, Kingsman) who has a great track record so I will reserve judgement until I see the final product.

Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle arrives in US theaters June 16, 2017 and will also star Taron Egerton, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Vinnie Jones and Elton John.  What are your thoughts on Firth returning for the sequel?
