Quick Hits: Guardians of the Galaxy Photos, Riverdale Character Posters, Logan Images, Beauty and the Beast Poster and Wonder Woman Photos

Quick Hits: New official photos from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, character photos for CW’s Riverdale (Archie), new posters and photos for Logan, a poster for Beauty and the Beast showcasing the enchanted character’s human forms and Wonder Woman photos and villain information.

Disney/Marvel has released 13 “new” official photos from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.  These photos are from the trailers previously released, but this is the first time we’re seeing them in high definition.  Naturally Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill and baby Groot are front and center in the advertising so far as they’re the biggest selling points to get people hyped up for this movie.  Apart from Star Wars: Episode VIII, Guardians is my most anticipated movie of 2017 (you can vote on your most anticipated movie of this year in the poll here).  GotG Vol. 2 arrives in theaters May 5, 2017.

Check out the first full trailer here and plot details here.

“Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.”

Riverdale, a live-action adaptation of the popular comic series Archie, will premier on the CW on Thursday January 26.  The CW previously provided descriptions for each of the main characters in the series.  Below check out the series synopsis and official character posters for the main cast.

“The live-action series offers a subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie’s rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.”

K.J. Apa As Archie Andrews

Lili Reinhart As Betty Cooper

Madelaine Petsch As Cheryl Blossom

Ashleigh Murray As Josie McCoy

Cole Sprouse As Jughead Jones

Camila Mendes As Veronica Lodge

Sony has recently released new official images and posters for Hugh Jackman’s final turn as the mutant Wolverine in the movie titled Logan.  Some of these images have been released earlier, but since I haven’t posted any of the pictures associated with this movie I included them all below.  Logan will arrive in theaters March 3, 2017.  Check out the official plot synopsis and the photos below.

Logan will feature a much older and significantly crippled Wolverine living out his last days in 2024, and forced to get by in spite of his failing health and diminishing regenerative abilities. Logan is in charge of mentoring a small girl possessed of her own pair of claws – only she possesses two blades on each hand instead of three – and a comparably aged Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) whose mind has begun to deteriorate, aided by the albino mutant Caliban (Stephen Merchant). It’s also been revealed that those born with mutant abilities in 2024 are on the decline, and that an organization called Transigen is taking young mutants and turning them into killing machines.”

Based on information that was previously revealed, the young girl that Wolverine is the ipso facto guardian of might be none other than Laura Kinney/X-23 – who additionally may or may not become the new Wolverine following the events of Logan.”

Disney appears to be kicking into high gear with their marketing for the live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.  In the past week or so there have been several TV spots for the movie, the release of a clip where Emma Watson sings a portion of the song “Something There” and now this new poster that includes a look of the main enchanted characters in their human forms.

I was a kid during the Howard Ashman era when Disney released The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin so the original animated film is a cherished piece of my childhood.  I was underwhelmed by initial trailer and official photos, but remain extremely excited to see the film.  Beauty and the Beast is one of my most anticipated film of this year.  The movie will arrive in theaters March 17, 2017.

French Magazine Studio Ciné Live has provided a look at new official Wonder Woman photos as well as an interview with star Chris Pine where he divulged that Ares will be the main antagonist of the movie.

In addition to the new photos, we may have discovered the main villain of the film.  In an interview with French Magazine Studio Ciné Live (via ScreenRant), Chris Pine gave details about his character’s role in the movie and the motivation of the film’s villain.  This is the first we’re officially hearing that Ares will be an antagonist in Wonder Woman.  It’s fitting since Ares is the God of War and the movie takes place in WWI.  Check out the quote below.

“I play a pilot who works for the Allies and spies on the Germans without their knowledge. My character steals a notebook filled with scientific formulas in an Ottoman base, he steals a plane but is shot down in the open sea.

Behind these scientific formulas, there is a deadly gas that could well annihilate humanity. Now, it turns out that this is precisely the goal of Ares, the god of war. He is jealous of humanity, which is a creation of his father, the deceased Zeus (he was killed by Ares when he rebelled against his son, despite the help of the Amazons)…”

Wonder Woman arrives in theaters June 2, 2017.
