Deadpool For Your Consideration Video

Fox and Ryan Reynolds released a “For Your Consideration” video for Deadpool with Oscar nominations around the corner.

Deadpool was a surprise hit in 2016.  It was a funny, irreverent film that spiced up a superhero genre that was beginning to grow stale and over-crowded.  Despite bringing in big box office dollars on a modest budget and garnering lots of attention, it still came as a surprise when the movie started receiving award consideration.

Deadpool received two Golden Globe nominations, including Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical, or Comedy for star Ryan Reynolds and Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy; a Writer’s Guild of America award nomination for Best Adapted screenplay for Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick; a Director’s Guild of America award nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement of a First-Time Feature Film Director for 2016 for director Tim Miller; and even a nomination for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures at the Producers Guild of America for producers Simon Kinberg, Ryan Reynolds, and Lauren Shuler Donner.

Now Fox and Ryan Reynolds have released a “For Your Consideration” video via Reynolds’ Twitter account.  The video stays true to the character and marketing material pre-release of the film.  I don’t usually post these types of things, but I found it amusing.  The Academy tends to be a bit more, how should I put this, traditional and uptight than other film organizations so I’d be surprised to see Deadpool receive any Oscar nominations, but that shouldn’t take away from the impact the movie has had on the genre.  Check out the video below.
