HBO has release the first teasers for Game of Thrones season 7 in the form of a teaser trailer, an official poster and a live Facebook event. Check it out below.
Right now HBO has only provided small teases for a show that basically hypes itself at this point. In the past week they’ve released the first official poster, a teaser trailer and a strange big marketing where they revealed the premier date via a live Facebook event that didn’t go as smoothly as planned. In the live event they intended to melt a block of ice with a blowtorch (signifying the beginning of the battle between the white walkers and Dany’s dragons), but this took more than an hour to complete and had the feed cut out twice. In the end they revealed that Game of Thrones would return on July 16, 2017.
HBO also released a teaser trailer that consisted of the major house sigils and choice quotes from past seasons. While no new footage, images or even sound clips from season 7 are incorporated into the teaser, it still effectively sets the stage for what’s to come. This season will likely focus on the war between the three main houses (Stark, Lannister and Targaryen) before showing that all their political and warring efforts are pointless when compared to the real threat from the North. Season 7 will only consist of seven new episodes, three less than all previous seasons.
