Warner Bros. has been releasing character posters this week in preparation of their new Justice League trailer set to debut Saturday. Check out the posters for Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash below. Superman is likely to follow shortly unless they’re trying to convince film-goers that he’s not going to return from the dead for this movie. Justice League is set to arrive in theaters November 10, 2017.
“Fueled by the hero’s restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”
Not to be outdone, Marvel has released new character posters for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 via each actor’s Twitter account. Also included below are official images for Guardians of the Galaxy that appeared in the latest issue of Empire Magazine. With Guardians a little more than a month away, expect a flurry of ads, TV spots and info to flood the internet in the coming weeks. The movie arrives in theaters May 5, 2017.
“Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.”
You’d think there was some type of mandate that this was the week all major studio releases needed to debut posters. Following suite, below are motion posters for Transformers: The Last Knight. The Last Knight is the 5th, and reportedly the final, Transformers movie that will be directed by Michael Bay. The below motion posters were posted on Bay’s Twitter account. The movie arrives in theaters June 23, 2017.
“The Last Knight” shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).
There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In “Transformers: The Last Knight,” the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.
Well this might not be a group of posters, but Disney released a batch of official images for the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The photos show Johnny Depp back in the dreadlocks and garb as Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, a suspicious ship in a jar and Javier Bardem as the villain Captain Salazer. Dead Men Tell No Tales arrives in US theaters May 26, 2017.
“Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all new Pirates movie. The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifull small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has”
20th Century Fox released a new poster for their latest installment in the Alien franchise, Alien: Covenant. While it’s an interesting poster regardless, other online have pointed out that the top center appears to display the head of the Alien Queen. It makes sense because something will need to be laying the eggs of the new Xenomorphs following the creation of the first one in Prometheus. Alien: Covenant arrives in theaters May 19, 2017.
“Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created with Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking Alien franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.”
