Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have released three new posters for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Check them out below.
Marvel has Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arriving in theaters May 5 so don’t expect marketing for Spider-Man to kick into high gear until after its release. However, they did provide 3 new posters featuring the wallcrawler. Besides simply showing off Spidey in action, the posters also act as a reminder that these movies will have a Peter Parker/Spider-Man that exists within the same shared universe as the other Marvel characters such as Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, etc. Two of the posters below include Avengers tower, Tony Stark’s building and the Avengers’ headquarters in Age of Ultron. Check out the posters below, courtesy of Coming Soon.
As I’ve stated numerous times on my blog, Spider-Man has always been my favorite superhero. I’m excited about the prospect of Spidey joining the Marvel cinematic universe with the potential to fight alongside of the other established heroes again (following his brief appearance in Civil War) and to see what a Marvel produced Spider-Man flick could look like. Marvel has an excellent track record for successful movies both commercially and critically and Spider-Man has always been their biggest character, even if he hasn’t been front and center lately due to the success of their other film properties.
“A young Peter Parker / Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.”
These posters come on the heels of posters released for several other big studio tentpole films this past week. Check out my post here for posters and official movie images for Justice League, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Transformers: The Last Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and Alien: Covenant.
