Check out the behind the scenes clip of Dan Stevens as the Beast without CGI in Disney’s massive blockbuster Beauty and the Beast.
According to the video posted on Collider, Dan Stevens performance in Disney’s adaptation of Beauty and the Beast was more complicated than it appears. First of all, the actor had to perform all his scenes as the Beast in a bulky motion capture suit while wearing stilts (props to Emma Watson for not bursting out laughing every scene). However, following those recordings Stevens had to perform his scenes a second time, this time recording his lines against a facial capture machine that is able to record each small motion of his face to use in the animation of the Beast.
I may not have been a huge fan of the film (read my review here), but the feat of bringing the Beast to life in this manner is impressive. Beauty and the Beast has already pulled in a whopping $501 million domestically and $1.2 billion worldwide. The blu-ray is set to be released June 6, 2017.
