Vivica A. Fox Joins Independence Day 2

Vivica A. Fox is on board for Independence Day 2.  She joins a cast that already has the returning Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman (rumored to be returning but no official announcement yet), as well as new cast members Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games), Jessie Usher (When the Games Stands Tall) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (Melancholia).  Will Smith is not returning, but Jessie Usher is going to be his character’s son.  The original film came out in 1996 and went on to make over $800 million worldwide so it’s not a surprise that sequel rumors had been floating around for years.  According to Coming Soon, the new movie is expected to begin production in May with a script that was recently rewritten by Carter Blanchard. New Spider-Man Cast? And Who Will Direct Infinity Wars

Has Marvel found their next Spider-Man?  For a quick rundown of why Spider-Man is being recast and how he is now a part of the Marvel cinematic universe, check out my previous post here.  It has already been stated that Spider-Man will first appear in Captain America: Civil War, which begins shooting in 2 weeks, so it was anticipated that we’d be hearing official casting news any day now.  Most sites have been reporting that Marvel intended to cast someone young, an actual teenager for a high school aged Spider-Man so that he won’t be in his 30’s by the time they’re filming sequels.  That would also allow there to be a distinct difference between the youthful Spider-Man and the more established men already involved with the Avengers.  If the rumors are true, they may in fact have found their next star in Continue reading New Spider-Man Cast? Review: Cinderella (2015)

As with most people, Disney films made up much of my childhood movie viewing.  I own most of the classics and can’t wait until my son is old enough to watch them for himself.  If nothing else, one of Disney’s most impressive accomplishments with their film library has been creating what many would consider to be the definitive version of these timeless stories.  Peter Pan, Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, etc. – all these tales have been remade time and again, but I guarantee that when you think of them you’re picturing the Disney version.  That shouldn’t be understated.  Now Disney has decided to make live action films based on their classic catalogue.  I don’t know why it has taken them decades to start this process, but it should provide them with a means of printing money for years to come.  Out of the movies “remade” thus far, Alice in Wonderland was really a sequel and Maleficent was a considerably different take on the Sleeping Beauty tale.  That leaves Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella as the first true, direct live action adaptation. Marvel Age of Ultron and Civil War Speculation

More possible movie spoilers, you’ve been warned.  Avengers: Age of Ultron is expected to be a huge movie event this summer.  While the movie going public has their eyes set on May, Marvel Studios has a long term plan set in place.  In addition to fighting against Ultron in the next installment, there is evidently going to be some friction between many of the major players in the film because of the announcement of Captain America: Civil War May 6, 2016.   Continue reading Marvel Age of Ultron and Civil War Speculation

Star Wars The Force Awakens Trailer and Opening Sequence Spoilers

Potential spoilers galore, proceed at your own risk.  To date the only thing that has been shown with regards to the highly anticipated Star Wars The Force Awakens film was the brief teaser trailer a couple months back.  That trailer provided no plot details and only showed some of the key characters who are believed to play a part in the new trilogy.  The returning Luke, Leia and Han Solo did not even show up in that teaser.  Well, if El Mayimbe over at Latino Review is correct (and he always seems to be.  Seriously, I would love to get the breaking news he obtains), then we may know what the next trailer looks like and it not only shows the classic characters but also gives more hints at what to expect in the movie to be released in December.  Here’s what he has to say: Continue reading Star Wars The Force Awakens Trailer and Opening Sequence Spoilers
