Teasers for Live Action Ghost in the Shell

Based on the 1995 anime movie and 1980’s manga of the same name, Ghost in the Shell stars Scarlett Johansson, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, Juliette Binoche, Kaori Momoi, Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tuwanda Manyimo.  The film arrives in US theaters March 31, 2017. Scarlett Johansson Discusses Black Widow’s Role in Civil War

Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow has been a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, already appearing in 4 films with Civil War still on the way.  Personally I found it interesting that she is listed as a member of Team Iron Man since she’s been chummy with Captain America since Winter Soldier, even appearing as his second in command of the new Avengers team at the conclusion of Age of Ultron.  In an interview with Entertainment Weekly she gave further insight as to where her character is at this point and how she figures into the conflict. Scarlett Johansson Cast in Ghost in the Shell

I’ve never been a huge fan of the anime genre on the whole (I know I lost a lot of you with that statement). There’s some that I like such as My Neighbor Tutoro and Spirited Away from the Studio Ghibli, Akira and Ghost in the Shell (sorry but I never got into Pokemon or Dragon Ball Z). Like any successful foreign movie, it should come as no surprise that there is going to be an American remake of one of the most popular anime films, Ghost in the Shell. Scarlett Johansson Top Choice for Creature from the Black Lagoon Remake

Ever since the moment Samuel L. Jackson stepped out of the shadows to tell Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark about the Avenger’s initiative, Marvel began what was being called a “shared universe”.  What followed was a bunch of individual movies built around separate Marvel characters who all inhabited the same universe and ultimately culminated in a movie that included all of them.  When Avengers went on to dominate the box office other studios attempted to copy their formula by creating their own “shared universe”.  DC under Warner Brothers will introduce a ton of characters in the Man of Steel sequel next summer, all of which will then have their own stand alone pictures as part of a, yes again, “shared universe”.  Both the Ghostbusters and Transformers franchises are looking to create the same type of thing.   Continue reading Scarlett Johansson Top Choice for Creature from the Black Lagoon Remake
